Frasier Crane

FRASIER CRANE

Debuting in the third season, Dr. Frasier Winslow Crane was born sometime in Late February. Although, throughout the series the month of his birth proves to be inconsistent. While the rest of the family stayed in Seattle, Frasier settled in Boston, Massachusetts, because of his attendance at Harvard. Frasier holds an M.D. and Ph.D. in psychiatry. He earned his undergraduate degree in music from Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he was on the men's rowing team, and also graduated from Oxford University in Oxford, England. His first wife, whom he married while a first-year medical student, was Nanette Guzman. However, the marriage lasted for only nine months. Frasier met Diane while she was staying at a mental institution. The two met when Frasier stopped Diane from fighting with another woman over a croquet match. Initially, Diane invited Frasier to help "Cheers" bartender and Diane's ex-boyfriend Sam Malone. Sam, who had gone back to drinking, to presumably fill a void that Diane had left in his life, was at first hesitant over Frasier psychoanalyzing him. However, with urging from his friends, Sam reluctantly agrees. Having fallen in love with one another, Diane and Frasier go to Italy, where they plan to wed. After Diane leaves Frasier standing at the altar, he returns to "Cheers" in order to let Sam know what Diane had done. Eventually, Sam and Diane rekindle their relationship. Throughout the rest of the series, Frasier has an obvious resentment towards Diane, continuing on after Diane leaves "Cheers" to finish writing her novel. Later, Frasier meets Dr. Lilith Sternin a fellow psychiatrist. At first, Lilith and Frasier have a mutual hatred towards one another. However, after a makeover by Diane, Lilith surprises Frasier with her new look, while the two are guests on a talk show. After an eventual marriage, Lilith becomes pregnant with a son, who they name Frederick. In the final season of the series, Lilith cheats on Frasier with a colleague. A few episodes later, Lilith returns to Frasier. However, Lilith is surprised to find that Frasier is in bed with Rebecca Howe. Frasier finally agrees to take Lilith back. As "Cheers" was nearing its end, Frasier appears to be neutral about his politics, expressing cynicism about the political process. The eleventh season episode "Woody Gets an Election," sees Frasier insisting that politics, in general, is a superficial popularity contest, full of insincere candidates who only care about re-election, rather than the promises they make to attain their positions. He makes a bet with Sam that even bartender Woody Boyd, a man completely oblivious of the workings of politics, could receive 10% of the vote in the upcoming Boston City Council election by saying the right slogans. In an unlikely twist, a scandal mars Woody's opponent, and leads to a shocking victory for the dark horse candidate, which causes Frasier some anxiety about the consequences of his experiment. In a dream, Frasier visualizes Woody giving the go-ahead for full scale nuclear war. At some point between the end of "Cheers" and the start of "Frasier," Lilith and Frasier separate permanently and divorce. After he decides to leave Boston, Frasier returns to his family in Seattle, where he becomes a radio talk show host. At one time or another, Frasier reunites with Lilith, Diane, Sam, Cliff, Norm, Carla and Woody, as the original actors from "Cheers" reprise their roles on "Frasier" in various episodes.

KELSEY GRAMMER

Allen Kelsey Grammer was born in Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Grammer studied acting and singing, and went to the prestigious Juilliard School. Aside from his success in the Entertainment business, Kelsey has had a less than perfect life. After his parents divorced, Grammer's father, Frank, was shot and killed on the front lawn of his home in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Grammer's younger sister, Karen, was raped and murdered, after she was abducted outside of a restaurant in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Next, his fraternal twin half-brothers were killed in a scuba diving accident. Karen's murderer was denied parole, at least in part, due to a letter Grammer submitted to the parole board. After leaving Juilliard, he had received an internship with the Old Globe Theatre, in San Diego. Grammer made his Broadway debut as "Lennox," in the Shakespearean play "Macbeth," Kelsey took over the lead role when Philip Anglim withdrew after receiving negative reviews. He later performed on the demo of the Stephen Sondheim–James Lapine production of "Sunday in the Park with George," starring Mandy Patinkin. Also featured on the demo was Christine Baranski, who later starred as Mrs. Lovett to Grammer's title character in a Los Angeles Reprise version of "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street." Grammer then played Michael Cassio in a Broadway revival of William Shakespeare's "Othello," with James Earl Jones and Christopher Plummer. Grammar's television career began when he portrayed Stephen Smith in the NBC miniseries "Kennedy." Grammer came to broader public attention as Dr. Frasier Crane in the NBC sitcom "Cheers." Grammer's former Juilliard classmate and Broadway co-star Patinkin suggested Grammer to the New York casting director, and he got, what was supposed to be a six-episode job, but ended up as a regular cast member. The character became the center of the "Cheers" spin-off, "Frasier," which is arguably the most successful spin-off in TV history. In addition to starring, Grammer also directed many episodes, especially during the second half of the series. Grammer has been married three times. Playing Frasier Crane on "Frasier," Grammer won three Emmy awards for "Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series." His Birthday is February 21st.
